7.0 Earthquake hits Haiti

Thank you all for your prayers, emails and phone calls. We are all fine!!!!!!!!!!! Paul built a strong house and we hardly felt the quake though our neighbours felt it a lot.

In case you have not heard yet – there was a 7.0 earthquake 22 km west of Port au Prince, Haiti about two hours ago (4:53 pm). We did feel it here in the DR. The local news does not have any real details about damage, injuries or deaths as of yet. I have been to Haiti and a 7.0 earthquake will do a lot of damage. Buildings are not built strong. We have heard rumour of a hospital in Port au Prince that collapsed.

At 6:37 pm local time, a tsunami warning was issued for our island (Hispaniola), Puerto Rico, Cuba and other surrounding islands. It has been raining since yesterday so there is a lot of extra water out there right now.

We need to be praying for all those who are immediately affected by this earthquake. As the news reports come out, I am sure that we will be hearing about devastation and families who have lost. Please uphold them in your prayers.

Thank you for remembering us! For those who heard early reports and have emailed or called or logged in on chat – thank you. Your love, prayers and concerned mean so much to us.

Sharyn, Paul and kids.
