House Upon the Rock Ministry is a Canadian, non profit ministry that is ministering in the rural mountains of the Dominican Republic. We minister through our medical clinic, construction, mission teams from Canada and the US, Bible studies, school sponsorship and, most importantly, evangelism. Our goal is to share the Word of God and His love to all that we meet. We have been ministering here since June 1997.

part of our school sponsorship program, we have parent meetings to
teach parents things that we hope will help them with their parenting and
keeping God centre of their homes. Sharyn felt that it was important to teach
about protecting our children on the internet and social media. Social media
has reached the poorest of villages but the education to parents and teens has
not. On Monday night, we had a parent meeting. Nena and Sharyn worked
(electronically) on the talk for the evening. The meeting was open not only to
the parents in our sponsorship program but to anyone who wanted to attend.
Parents from some local churches, the community and our program all attended.
There was a lot of information taught as well as stories shared by parents in
attendance. Suggestions and ideas were talked about on how parents can protect
their children on the internet and social media. It was a great meeting and we
pray that it was helpful to many parents and
TEAMS & TRAVELS
just ten days, we will host two back-to-back teams from South Carolina
who are coming to Jarabacoa and Pedregal to serve. These teams will be building
two houses for two very needy families in the village. Praise God for sending
these teams. We are excited to see how God uses each person on these teams to
further His Kingdom, sharing God’s word and love with every person.
God has us transitioning to living with one foot in the DR and one foot in
Canada, we find ourselves having to be separated for a two week period. Paul
and Sharyn’s brother, Michael, will be in the Dominican Republic from 24
October to 8 November. They will lead these teams, along with our
incredible Dominican staff. Sharyn and the kids will be staying in Canada for
this trip. During these same two weeks, the kids will end the first quarter of
school with projects and exams due. Both kids have volleyball tournaments on
both of the weekends (one is an overnight tournament in Canmore). Samantha has
a two day, overnight band retreat also during these same two weeks and Sharyn
needs to go as one of the parent chaperones. As you can see, with all these
commitments, Sharyn and the kids need to stay in Canada for this trip.
While in the DR, Paul will also be able to touch base with each one of
our staff and see how their lives and ministry is going. It is important to be
able to return to the DR regularly to check in with out staff. As much as we
are able to accomplish electronically these days, nothing is the same as face to

house in the DR is on the market. Once it sells, we will be able to
purchase a house in Canada. Our family is ready to be less in transition and to
settle down into a house that we can call ours. We trust God for His perfect
timing, will and the house that He has chosen for us.
We are waiting to hear back from a couple places about

In March, we plan to go as a family to the
Dominican Republic to lead the Victoria team. We also plan to be there
for part of the summer and in November 2015. Your prayers are appreciated for
God’s perfect planning, not ours.
The kids are adjusting to being in
school in Canada. They are more comfortable with school routine and
expectations and both are enjoying being a member of the Jr A. Volleyball
