House Upon the Rock Ministry is a Canadian, non profit ministry that is ministering in the rural mountains of the Dominican Republic. We minister through our medical clinic, construction, mission teams from Canada and the US, Bible studies, school sponsorship and, most importantly, evangelism. Our goal is to share the Word of God and His love to all that we meet. We have been ministering here since June 1997.

on & join the angels rejoicing over new brothers & sisters in
new brothers and sister in Christ!!! One entire family re-committing their life
to our Lord God!!! This is why we do what we do. Twenty years ago, God called
us to leave the safety of our home culture and country and to “Go!”. God
equipped us with skills, knowledge, tools, support, and meeting our needs. Our
job is to use these skills, knowledge, tools and support to accomplish HIS goals
which is for every person on earth to hear the Word of God have the chance to
choose to follow God or not. “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached
in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
Matthew 24:14" Many years ago, when we sought God for where to minister, He
told us to come walk along side Him where He is already working. This is why we
minister in the village of Pedregal in the mountains of the Dominican Republic.
Every time that we are blessed to be a part of bringing someone a step closer to
God, we remember that God does not need us, but, He lets us work along side
Him. What a blessing and joy God gives us every day!
ministry of the our recent teams from South Carolina, we all had the blessing
and joy of being a part of five people who asked Jesus into their hearts and
dedicated their lives to God, as well as, a family who had fallen away from God,
return to God. These are the greatest joys and blessings of life.

the practical side, the teams began construction on two new homes. The
first house is for Yaquaria, Franklin, and their three young children. To call
their previous house a falling down shack was an understatement. The structure
that was their house was deplorable. This shack was torn down and new house
constructed. In two weeks, the teams laid a foundation, four brick walls for
the first floor, built a wood floor/ceiling for the second floor, built four
wood walls and put on a roof. There is a still plumbing, electrical and some
interior work to be done but the family can move back into the house while the
rest is being completed. Construction continues on Yaquaria and Franklin’s
house thanks to funds donated by a church fund raiser in Charlotte, NC.
The second house is for Ana Margarita, Noé and their three children.
Ana Margarita and Noé are basically homeless. They had a house that Noé’s
mother owned and the mother gambled the house away. Ana Margarita and Noé are
renting a very small, falling down shack while we construct a house for them.
The teams were able to lay the foundation and build the walls up to the ring
beam. Construction will continue on this house with funds from payments of
families who have already received built houses and any more donations that come
into the ministry. We hope to complete the house prior to our next mission
teams in March.

all this was going on, the Clinic continued to serve patients five days
a week through the medical ministry. In the past few months, we have seen
epidemics of Dengue Fever and Chikungunya virus as well as the usual flu, cold
and stomach viruses that come around every Fall. Even though our medicines have
been depleted, we have been able to serve our patients and help them to the best
of our abilities while continuing to pray with every patients and evangelize to
those who yet to know our Lord and Father in Heaven.
Paul and Sharyn’s
brother, Michael, just returned from 2 ½ weeks in the Dominican Republic where
they lead these teams and were blessed by the ministry in many ways. Sharyn
remained in Canada with the kids and meeting their needs. Noah and Samantha had
three weekends in a row of volleyball tournaments, a band retreat and the end of
the first quarter of school filled with tests and finishing up projects. It was
a busy time for all of us.
