House Upon the Rock Ministry is a Canadian, non profit ministry that is ministering in the rural mountains of the Dominican Republic. We minister through our medical clinic, construction, mission teams from Canada and the US, Bible studies, school sponsorship and, most importantly, evangelism. Our goal is to share the Word of God and His love to all that we meet. We have been ministering here since June 1997.

Thank you for your prayers , support and
being a part of our ministry team. It is with your prayers and
support that things like this conference could take place. Praise
We praise God
for sending Dr. Keith and Kimberly Attles from New Jersey to minister
to the local Dominicans for the third year in a row. This year, a
group of seven came, each with their own, unique talents and knowledge
to share and teach. The conference was three days long with large
attendance at each session. Many local pastors and spouses
attended, as well as church leaders, believers, youths and those of
other beliefs. We thank God for opening the door to minister to
each person who attended. We thank God for sending this amazing
group from New Jersey to teach and minister to so many.
We had a
pastor friend from Northern Haiti come to the conference. Pastor
Eddy had one church before the earthquake. That grew to 3
churches after the earthquake. He now pastors 9 churches and over
8000 Haitians since the change in immigration laws in the DR this past
June. We were thrilled to see Pastor Eddy, catch up with him and
that he could be refreshed, learn some things and be prayed over while
at the conference. At the last evening of the conference, time
was spent to pray over and for each person individually who wanted prayer.
The presence of God was so apparent!
The theme this
year was Building
the Church for the 21st Century. For three days,
teachings were given on various topics such as Biblical financing, Activating
Volunteer Ministry, God's Mission for The City, Growing the Church, and
Christian Home & Family. On the first day, Chris and
Charles who have a financial background, held one-on-one meetings with
anyone who wanted. They were able to meet with 12 different
people to give them Biblical financial advice and pray for them.
On the third day, at noon, Chris and Charles were invited to speak on
the local Christian radio station and took calls for listeners.
It was a great opportunity to minister to many over the radio
waves. We are thankful to our three translators who volunteered
their time. We received great feedback on the teachings and many
requests for the speakers to return again next summer.
This year, we
did something different. We had ESL and Math classes for 8 - 12
year olds in the morning. We had about 12 kids attend and they
had a great time with Kimberly.
Thursday afternoon, the teaching was centered more for the 12 - 18 year
olds and parents. Aaron taught the youth about the importance of
being careful on the internet and social media, how what you post is
forever there and how it can affect you for years to come. He
also spoke on the dangers of accepting friend requests from people that
you do not know and then tied it all together in how we can use the
internet and social media for God's glory. The parents were
taught about social media, the dangers and suggestions on how they can
help their kids to have a healthy social media presence.
