House Upon the Rock Ministry is a Canadian, non profit ministry that is ministering in the rural mountains of the Dominican Republic. We minister through our medical clinic, construction, mission teams from Canada and the US, Bible studies, school sponsorship and, most importantly, evangelism. Our goal is to share the Word of God and His love to all that we meet. We have been ministering here since June 1997.

what amazing things God is doing in the Dominican Republic and Canada
Saturday, we hosted a party for 153 kids and their parents (about
300 people). It was quite a day! We
started with Wendy sharing a devotion about God's love and
faithfulness and then she prayed for everyone. Cake was eaten
and then shoeboxes were given out to 153 kids. 83 kids are in
our sponsorship program and 70 kids are from poor families in the
area. So many smiling faces and joyous kids and
parents. So many blessings.
The blessings came in various forms. There were the obvious
blessings of toys, candy, clothes and other goodies. We had
cake and juice for everyone. For someone with little money,
any food is a blessing. Then there were the blessings that
are harder to see and touch. The Word of God was shared.
The love of God was shared each person not only by our staff, but
through each shoebox from the person who built that shoebox and
sent it. This is the blessings that count the most.
We want to thank the sponsors, Mount Airy Church and Mosaic Church
for building and sending all these shoeboxes, as well as for
helping with the cost of shipping to the DR and Dominican taxes to
bring them into the country, which was about $1300US. Without
each person and the organizers in the churches, there would not
have been any shoeboxes to give out. It is through the
shoeboxes that we had the opportunity to share God's Word with over
300 people this past Saturday. Our prayer is that each person
grew one step closer to God in their hearts'.

have been invited to teach for eight hours at the Mission Training
Academy in Teaneck, NJ. This is something new for us, taking us
outside of our comfort zone and stretching us, yet, at the same
time, we are excited and really looking forward to how God can use
us in this opportunity. On February 21, we will be sharing in
the Sunday morning service at Covenant Life Ministries Church in
While in the area, we will be visiting with longtime friends, Henry
and Dick. Many of you know them from mission trips.
Dick and Henry have been coming to the DR for years to minister
with us and we have never met their wives. We are thrilled to
be blessed with the opportunity to spend a few days with Dick &
Henry on their turf and to meet their wives!
May 14 - 28,
Dominican Republic A professor from Prairie
College is coming down with his wife, for a week, to teach a
certified theology course that will be offered to pastors, church
leaders, and anyone else who wants to take it the course.
After the course, a team will arrive from Mosaic Church, Charlotte
NC for a week of service.
will find the Branson Family in the DR for numerous weeks.
Exact dates are still to be determined. We have our annual
conference with pastors and speakers from Teaneck NJ, plus three
weeks of mission teams.
As we announced in our December newsletter, the ministry has
purchased the property that we have been renting. Thank be to
God and donors, we were able to $4000US off the balance owed.
We now have paid $6220 US of the $55,000 US purchase price.
We have until April 2017 to have the entire amount paid.
Donations can be made to MSC, CMML or Sonlight.
The clinic began January with many patients and everything going
smoothly. There is a new mosquito disease in the area called
the Zika Virus and a lot of concern for pregnant women as Zika can
cause birth defects. Our medical staff are staying busy
keeping up on the new diseases and treating the usual medical
Pochy and Anthony moved into their new home in December, in time
for Christmas. Seven mission teams worked hard to build this
house and it is a huge blessing. Thank you. We have one
project on the go right now; an addition of a bathroom and bedroom
to a 2 bedroom house.
At this time, it looks like we will host at least 5 mission teams
and two conferences/courses this year. We are thankful to
every church and every team that is planning to come down and
service in 2016.
Family: We are still in need to sell our
house in Hatillo in order to buy a house in Three Hills. This
is a huge need! Noah & Samantha have had some health
issues but are doing better. Sharyn began 2016 with
bronchitis and is now better. Samantha is playing basketball
again. Noah decided not to play this year but rather take the
time to concentrate on his academics. Both kids begin Exam Week,
starting this Thursday.
Paul is fulfilling a dream. He is acting in a play put on by
the local Arts Academy. He will be playing Ray in The Odd Couple
the first weekend in March. Paul is also managing the
construction department, mission teams and continues to take
courses from Prairie College. Paul will also be preaching in
Alberta in April and June.
As you read, we will be busy with travel and teaching in January
and February and then lots of travel and time in the DR the rest of
the year. Sharyn stays very busy, spending over 40 hrs a week
managing many aspects of the ministry.
