House Upon the Rock Ministry is a Canadian, non profit ministry that is ministering in the rural mountains of the Dominican Republic. We minister through our medical clinic, construction, mission teams from Canada and the US, Bible studies, school sponsorship and, most importantly, evangelism. Our goal is to share the Word of God and His love to all that we meet. We have been ministering here since June 1997.

"Thank you" she said with tears in her eyes as she gave
hugs to these people who she had never met before. This
gathering of two families who had never met before in person was
filled with joyful tears and so much love. The local family has two
children who are being sponsored by a family who have come from
North America to Pedregal to meet them. The gratitude and
love of both families is more than can be put into words as God is
using the families to bless each in different in special and
Students around the Dominican Republic, US and Canada are heading
into the final months of this school year. For students in
grade 12, this means a lot of hard work to pass finals and graduate
with all requirements met. In the DR, this also means that
grade 8 students are working hard to prepare for their National Exams.
In our sponsorship program, we have 84 students in various schools
from kindergarten through university. This year, we will have
two students who will graduate grade 12. Both students, Maria
del Carmen and Wildiania, have been working very hard this year and
have maintained good grades. The national exams count for 50%
of their grade in each subject so they be working hard to
prepare for and pass these exams.
Schools will be releasing their prices and registration dates in
the next couple weeks and things will get very busy for us as we
reach out sponsors and work to have students registered for the
coming school year.
Bringing Bible College to Jarabacoa
Bill Nyman from Prairie Bible College is coming
from May 6 - 13 to teach a Biblical course on "The Four
Gospels". We are offering this to all pastors, church
leaders, missionaries and anyone else who wants to participate.
Bill will be teaching for five days, six hours a day.
This is the first time we have done anything with Prairie Bible
College. The college is using this trip and course as an
experiment to see how it goes. If it is successful, then we
will be talking with the president of the college about
partnering. The idea is for the college to send down
professors two or three times a year and offer a seminary credited
We are also having our annual July conference with pastors and
teachers from Teaneck, New Jersey.
gifted with a pastoral heart. During our
time in Canada, he has had the opportunity to take some courses
from Prairie Bible College and is now receiving invitations to
preach at various churches. In February, he preached in New
Jersey. In March, Innisfail Baptist has had their "March
for MIssions" month and asked us to come share. We gave
a missions report and then Paul brought the sermon. In 10
days, Paul will preach at Trochu Baptist in Trochu AB and at the
end of April, he will preach at Carbon Community Church in Carbon
On April 2nd, we will be sharing about the ministry and our latest
project (buying the ministry property) at Trochu Baptist's
"Taste and See Mission Night". The church is having
a dinner and focusing on the missionaries that they, as a church,
support. We will be one of four missionaries sharing at this
