House Upon the Rock Ministry is a Canadian, non profit ministry that is ministering in the rural mountains of the Dominican Republic. We minister through our medical clinic, construction, mission teams from Canada and the US, Bible studies, school sponsorship and, most importantly, evangelism. Our goal is to share the Word of God and His love to all that we meet. We have been ministering here since June 1997.

a new house this summer. Sandra is a single mom
with four children and eight months pregnant. Her brother was
in an accident and severely broke his leg, of which, he is still
recovering from. He was hobbling around the job site as we
were preparing the re-bar for the footer so Paul started to talk
with him. He was very curious as to why all these foreigners
were in his village helping to build a house for his sister.
After two days of conversations, he made the decision to ask Jesus
into his heart and his life! This is why we do what we
The place that
we rent to house teams is called Las Villas Anacaona.
Vinicio is the man in charge at Las Villas. He is about 33
years old and lives at Las Villas to handle all the needs of the
people who rent cabins and rooms. Other ministries also rent
Las Villas for their teams. We have known Vinicio for a few
years now. Two weeks ago, Paul started to talk with Vinicio
about God and Jesus. Vinicio has witnessed many ministries’
teams over the years of working and he was confused as to what a
Christian is. Some of the ministry teams drink a lot, swear,
and culturally offend while others do not drink, do not swear and
try to be culturally sensitive. The testimonies of the
various teams confused Vinicio about faith. Paul and Vinicio had
some great conversations. After much thought, Vinicio made a
decision for God and Jesus! We have introduced Vinicio to the
pastor of church close by and they are starting to meet once a
week. This is why we do what we do.
4TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE
week of July, Pastor Keith and Kimberly Attles, as
well as their son and a church member came down for a week to teach
at our annual summer conference. It was so great to spend
time with the Attles again. As this is their fourth summer
here, they have developed relationships with a number of the local
pastor, church leaders and people. As a result, the local
people are listening and applying to their lives things that they
learn at the conference. This year, the following topics were
taught: finances, marriage, united church, transforming the church
(evangelism) and we had an afternoon for youth where we discussed
various topics pertinent for the youth. It was a very blessed
week with the presence of God present!
a little neglected girl named Rafelina would
come to my clinic every day. Most days she had little
clothing on, some days none. She was always dirty, hungry and
so attention starved. Ana Maria and I would bathe her, then
she would crawl up on my lap and just stay there when I did not
have patients. I would buy her some food most days before she
would head out. This went on for about two years until her
family moved away. Today, a young girl walked into the clinic
and greeted me with big hug that said that I should know her.
Ana Maria quickly said that it as Rafelina! Rafelina is
a beautiful 13 year old girl and it was such a huge blessing to see
her!! She is living with her uncle and will be going into
grade four in August.
Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength, we will sing and
praise your might. Psalm 21v13
